HISTORY: 1967-2001

THE LLAMA FAMILY IN AMERICA™
Paul "Papa" Llama, Maria "Mama" Llama,
L
ouie Llama, Lamita, and Baby Billy

In 1967, the creative arrival of the Llama Family in America was due largely to a Llama-like person developed independently and appearing as a graphic portrayal of the acronym for Language AMericas Association of the U.S.A., Inc., i.e., he was called "Lama" the Llama. (Note: The Association was founded as a not-for-profit 501 c (3) educational organization mainly by graduates of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies "SAIS." Its purpose, in effect, was to promote public interest in international relations with emphasis on second-language learning for school children.)

The Publisher, SuperAmerican Books™, loaned the "Lama" character to Language Americas in promotions for The InterAmerican Scene, a multilingual quarterly for U.S. schools. Thereafter, Lama the Llama® began appearing on products and in independent travel calendars with Sacha and Don Diego Valdera as The SuperAmericans®.

In 1992,
the trio appears in a reality-based Sci-Fi action-adventure story (By Donald (E.) Olliff Black) titled: Something Beautiful Came to Earth: The Angel-Bird legend. (Collector's Price: $41.95)*

(It's a jewel; unlike any that Spielberg or Lucas has seen!)

1995-1997: In this period, a new teen-age "Lama" personality appears in a bilingual story re-titled: Louie Lama, the Beanstalk, and the Magic Ring. Language Americas Association promotes the English-Spanish story as a means of reaching out to young people, Grades 2-5, with an adventurous scenario focusing on cultural diversity, clarity, fun reading, and second-language learning.

2000-2001: And, in this period, Louie Llama evolves from a storybook personality to a costumed charismatic character much like those at Walt Disney World. He is very happy with his new lifestyle! On loan to Language Americas, his job is helping children learn to read with his "Read-in for Kids" productions; also "Mentoring them to Stay Smoke and Drug Free." Louie Llama feels that he can help them much more by working in film animation entertainment.

*Note: Lama the Llama or "Bo" is the older brother of Louie Llama. Bo Llama disappeared mysteriously years ago. Papa and Mama Llama gave up on finding Bo and never mentioned him to the younger children. However, in the Epilogue of Louie's book, Papa believes that he may have news about his missing son, and that Bo may be working with Don Diego Valdera' s TV-1 Production company in Washington, DC.
